trndmsk Future Stars #9: Kyodai – Furōto

The Japanese word Kyodai stands for brothers – a distinctive choice by the native Spanish brothers Jay and Luis Garayalde Oses now living in Berlin. “We were born into a musically gifted family from the Basque country. Our father, who was a saxophonist and clarinettist, sent us to a music college for Jazz and classical music education.” Their alias came into mind while travelling through the former empire: “We have this special connection to Japanese culture due to gigs with other projects.”

In 2013, they found a musical home in record label Exploited. Freerange, Poker Flat and Compost are some of their earlier record labels; Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Masters At Work and Rainer Trüby are some of their supportes – a remarkable proof of achievement. We are very happy to present “Furōto” (Japanese for levitate) as the ninth contribution to our Future stars series. The set consists of twelve musicals works by Bakradze, Art Of Tones, Tim Engelhardt, Shenoda, and some of their own productions.
