trndmsk: Damian, tell us what to look forward to in the next few hours?
Scrounger: Almost three hours of music, samples, noises, hi-hats, drums, Soul and Jazz baselines, erotics and advice from the dating coach.
Where and how did you record the set?
I recorded it during the last months while I was travelling a lot to collect tracks and ideas. I always need a certain topic for my sets. This topic I try to convey into the mix with vocals. This time, an insanely experienced “dating coach” (whose name I won’t reveal for his protection) explains how girls behave in a club and how you can “score” with them.
What were you trying to do with this mix?
It was important to me that people who only listen briefly cannot really tell and know what the mix is about. I always take a lot of time for every mix trying to adjust the track list and the specific edits. At some point I want to feel that the set is exactly as it should be and no different in any way. I think it is very important to vary in speed and atmosphere but still have a coherent product in the end. With a range of 80 to 117 BPM, this is obviously quite complicated but also fun.
How did you choose the tracks?
I wanted to mix tracks that I’ve been playing for a long time with tracks that I couldn’t play in a club. It took me a long time to choose them and then waited until I had collected enough tracks.
Did you include a favorite track in the set?
No, I like all of them.
This is July 2017. What does your summer schedule look like? Any festivals ahead? Which open air festivals are you looking forward to most?
I am very much looking forward to a Laut&Luise session in Cologne and Kater Blau in September.
