The 42st edition of our Future Stars series is called “Slow Is More” and comes from Jugurtha. Enjoy!
trndmsk: Jugurtha, what can we look forward to in the next few minutes?
Jugurtha: A journey on a balloon from a desert door city to the cosmos voguing in a low speed.
When did you record the set? What surrounded you at the time?
2 days ago in a tiny room in Paris.
How did you choose the tracks for the mix?
I’m inspired by tracks which tell stories on a hot groove. First track is an unreleased wich will be released and remixed by very nice guys very soon on a very nice label. Second is Sahalé and Samarana – “Songe d’une nuit d’été” actually I met this very nice guy for a coffee in Paris some days ago and he told me about this collaboration he made with Samarana. It really intrigued me and when I discovered those tracks I was amazed. Especially this track really talks to me because there’s ney inside which is an instrument that I love and play and the story is really well told, the loops choice is brillant and the production is awesome so its a wink to my friend Sahalé to playlist this track. When I love a pattern in a track I really try my best to playlist this track, so for this 3rd Track Thank You City – Analogue Odysee I’ve choose to put a track where I was touched by the pattern, plus the way this track is done is a bit unusual I love it.
4th is Hrag Mikkel – Tryptik Vision this guy knows how to groove and Pipe & pochet is very cool label I like to dig their tracks. Then Rapossa – Valley of light and Derun – “Troia Falling” Piano Loops I love this work. to dance with an oriental background. Then Muno – Mycenae once again a good groove and a traditional instrument dispatched cleverly I think its a Qanun but I’m not sure. And now a completely different atmosphere really more deep and perched with the amazing Dizharmonia – Ordo which we want it to never end. One of my favorite track on this set, dynamic and deep in the same time with a crazy pattern Canson & Andri – First Contact. As a closing sound for this short set I ended at the end of the break of Tebra’s “Vedro Nebo” (Anatolian Session remix) the synth theme is forward and impressive Pipe & Pochet again.. As I said all of those tracks tell a unique story so I thank all the producers for having inspiring me, us.
Do you have a favorite track included in the mix?
Sahalé & Samarana – “Songe d’une nuit d’été”
What three songs do you tend to use in your current sets?
Haha its a good one! I really try to put at all of my DJ sets those 3 tracks:
Keybe, Zone+ & Usif – Atini el Nai (Zone+ Version)
Dc La Rue – Edge of the night (The Revenge Rework)
Dennis Ferrer & Jerome Sydenham – Sandcastles
Summer is just around the corner. Which open airs are you most looking forward to?
Yes, in Tunisia on the beaches theres is many chances to meet good music.
What are your near future projects? Are you working on any other projects?
For Jugurtha a new Ep is coming out soon. Another one on the grill. I have an acoustic project with a friend called Neyoud its creations and dialogues between a Piano, an Oud and a Ney. We’ve been working on an album since 2 years and we are finishing it. There is some colours here.
