Berlin based duo Mat.Joe are the latest addition to the FMLY roster. Coming from a background of rap, skateboarding and breakdancing – influencing their style of House today. From their roots as hip hop producers they have moved to producing and playing crispy Housebeats paired with rhythmic Soul and Hip Hop elements. The result is deep and dancefloor-qualified, warm and rough.
Being best friends and moving from Hannover to Berlin to follow their sound – you can see their passion and comaraderie behind the decks. Being inspired by the Berlin culture and every day places such as subway rides, late night showers and favourite bars, their music has taken them on a journey. For trndmsk they mixed the 59th podcast.
trndmsk: Mat.Joe, what can we look forward to in the next few minutes?
Mat.Joe: You’re about to hear a live recording from this year’s Baum Festival in Bogotá, Colombia.
When did you record the set? What surrounded you at the time?
We recorded the set from 18.00 till 19.30 on May 18th, 2019 surrounded by more than 6000 people at the main stage. It was a great view for sure!
How did you choose the tracks for the mix?
We made sure they represent our current taste and that the mix supports the artists we love and we’re working with at the moment.
Do you have a favorite track included in the mix?
Right now it’s our fresh release on This Ain’t Bristol called „Ya Know“!
What three songs do you tend to use in your current sets?
The one we just mentioned, our „Get Loose“ release on DFTD with Kid Enigma and an upcoming collaboration with Robosonic.
What are your near future projects?
We just found a new studio that we’re about to set up with a good friend. It feels so good that after quite some time, we finally have our own space again. It has a rooftop as well!
Are you working on any other projects?
Yes, we just finished another remix for Kyle Watson on This Ain’t Bristol and we’re working on a couple of dope collaborations this year. Watch out!
