trndmsk: What inspired you to produce the EP?
Tulioxi: I think wasn’t inspired by anything in particular, but I’m sure that my musical background has been an influential part to create these 4 tracks, for sure I have to pay a tribute to all of those EBM, post-punk, New Wave, Dark bands which I stole things from.
Where did you record it? And how?
I use to record and mix all of my music in my home studio, But this time was different. The tracks of this Ep are the final result of a long work with my live show, performed with modular synthesis, controllers, and Ableton Live. Those tunes were originally really different, most of them were incomplete or just sketches, different basslines, themes, rhythmic parts, the narrative of the songs has been in constant change for a long time, every time I played and every time I play the live set I use to perform it in a different way, sometimes I realize that this part o that line simply does not work well, then I change it real-time following the vibe of the moment and I try to create a new sequence or pattern on the fly with my machines. I record all of these changes in new clips into the Ableton live Daw during the performance and I delete the shit. This Happens all the time I play live. So, after months, try after try, adjustment after adjustment at some point I finally realized that those 4 tracks were played always in the same way. No more changes, no more deleting o replacing parts. They were ready. At that point, I went to my studio and i began to produce them.
How did you get in contact with the record label?
I’ve got in touch with Heimlich thanks to Thomas Freudenthal (Pardon Moi), I was chatting with him about this and that and I remember i was complaining about not being able to find a Label interested to publish this work, I was struggling i little bit really. every label I got in touch with was like: Yeah things are cool but we are not going to release it. So yes, I was a little sad, Thomas said that the music was super and he passed the demo to Heimlich which was super happy to receive it. they agreed to release it and here we are. yes Thanks, Thomas.
What’s up next after the release? Are you working on any other projects?
I’m always working at new productions, honestly, I can’t live without making music so here is a constant recording and arranging a session. sure that not everything that comes out is good enough to be released and something should be forgotten as fast as I can, but I think I have some goods that will be released. I will support the Ep with Live sets around Europe this Fall\Winter then I will begin to work to the annual modular synth exhibition fair that takes place in Florence, where I live. I’m one of the developers of the project as technical director, this next year will be the third edition and it has been a constant grown of interest from the public since we started so 2020 edition will be a huge production.
